Spring Guides Exchange
May 1 to 3, 2009
Quadra Island, BC

This years spring guides exchange was hosted under sun, rain and cloud, in glorious Heriot Bay. With over 50 members present, the enthusiasm and energy made for a great event.

Sessions ranging from local history, navigation, paddling techniques, to rescues and recoveries kept people active over the weekend. The exchange was finished with a trip to Surge Narrows.

Thank you to everyone who attended!

Come to the spring 2009 Guides exchange on Quadra Island! For those of you who have joined us at previous exchanges, come rejuvenate yourself with a weekend spent with fellow guides. For the newcomers, expect a welcoming crowd at a weekend with excitement, professional development, and fun. There will be a mix of indoor session, and flat-water and moving water paddling for those of every level (Surge Narrows anyone!)

The exchange will be hosted by Spirit of the West and Coast Mountain Expeditions on beautiful Quadra Island. Land sessions will meet at the Heriot Bay Inn, and water sessions at Quadra Island Kayaks office.

Pre-registration, while not essential, is nice so we can plan for approximate numbers. Contact 250-285-2121 or email rick@kayakingtours.com

CPR Recertification – space may be limited, so please preregister! Contact rick@kayakingtours.com

The spring exchange will cost $75, and help cover several meals, hall rentals, and logistics. BYOB (Bring your own boat). Kayak rental/borrow will be available from both Sprit of the West, Coast Mountain Lodge, and Quadra Island Kayaks.

Quadra Island has many different accommodation options, check out www.quadraisland.ca , or, like many of us, come prepared to camp. See you there!
